Hogwarts Legacy eye chest locations and how to open them – Complete guide

Bell Tower Eye chest Locations 3

You probably noticed some weird chests with eyes while playing Hogwarts Legacy. If you wish to find out more about them, we’ll share the eye chest locations and how you can open them.

What are the eye chests?

The eye chests from Hogwarts Legacy are non-standard chests that are dispersed across the castle and the surrounding area. These chests have large eyes that scan the area, and when you go close to them, they dig in and lock themselves. By using any spells or charms on the eye chests, you cannot open them. It’s a little deceptive, but once you know the secret, you can open any you come across once you find the eye chest locations.

How can you open them?

Unlike most of the Hogwarts Legacy interactions, this time you won’t have to cast a spell on the chest. We know you have burned, frozen and tried literally all spells on them, but none seems to work. Why is that? Because you need to cast a spell on yourself.

To be able to open them, you need to cast the Disillusionment spell on yourself. This spell is unlocked if you have progressed as far as the Secrets of the Restricted Section quest. This is part of Sebastian’s storyline and while it teaches you to use this spell to hide from enemies and lurk undetected, it seems there is another use for it: opening eye chests!

You might want to be at a distance before casting the spell on yourself because if you are too close to the eye chest location it might notice and remain locked.

What are the rewards?

The eye chests rewards are no less than 500 coins, which is really cool because the game’s economy system might prove difficult and most of us were struggling in the beginning. Based on the fact that there are currently 28 eye chests, opening all of the will reward you with a whooping 14000 Galleons. Happy spending!

Hidden Library chest – This might prove the most difficult of all eye chest locations, so you might need to explore a bit. Fast travel to the Libary Foo Flame. After getting there you might want to talk around that floor a bit and you will soon find the chest right under a wall lamp and next to a bookshelf.
