AMD has been talking about its latest version of FSR for some time now, and we’re finally going to see how well it performs at this year’s GDC.
The Game Developers Conference is right around the corner, set for March 23. It will take place in San Francisco. To the excitement of AMD GPU owners, we will finally learn more about their FSR 3.0 technology. AMD has stated that FSR 3.0 will offer more than double the frame rate FSR 2 managed to provide. They are also working hard to deliver a rebuttal to Nvidia’s DLSS 3 upscaling technology.
Scheduled for 10 AM on March 23, AMD will show the FidelityFX SDK presentation. This event will give developers a thorough overview of what their FidelityFX technology will offer and how it can be implemented in future games.
When launching their new RX 7000 series of GPUs, AMD assured us that their next generation of FSR technology would more than double the frame rate of FSR 2. And at the end of this month, we will see actual evidence of this.
In response to Nvidia’s DLSS technology, AMD also talks about its Fluid Motion Frames tech. The core of this type of technology focuses on creating in-between frames based on motion vectors. This offers better frame rates and an overall smoother experience, with a minimal effect on quality.
Exactly how well AMD will be able to catch up to Nvidia is still anybody’s guess. Their latest generation of GPUs has shown they’re heading in the right direction. We will have to wait until March 23 to see if all their promises will actually pan out.
