With Apex Legends still bringing in millions of daily players, developers over at Respawn Entertainment are still churning out new content with every new season.

Since battle royale games became one of the most popular types of FPS games, plenty of developers have tried their hand at creating their own. And out of all the BR titles out there, Apex Legends has set itself apart as one of the best. It pits teams of three against each other in the Titanfall setting. While there are no mechs to control, the game offers a wide variety of characters to choose from, each of them with their unique abilities.

Season 17 is right around the corner, with players expecting a gameplay trailer to land sometime during May. We already had a sneak peek with a launch trailer even though no details about upcoming content were shown. So let’s look at some of the rumors we have about this upcoming season.

Upcoming legend Ballistic

While we don’t know much about Ballistic’s abilities, Respawn has announced that he is an Assault-class legend. This means that he will have the same perks as other Assault legends. We got a lot of information about his backstory with the Encore episode from Stories From The Outlands. He was shown to be a kind of a loner who has a complicated relationship with his son. Ballistic used to be a champion of the Apex arena but retired to live the good life. But living in luxury seems to grow stale after a while, so he’s ready to pick up his guns and get back into the thick of it.

New Heirloom Weapon

Take this with a grain of salt since it was uncovered by dataminers and not officially announced. A new Heirloom Set should come out with Season 17 for Horizon. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept, heirlooms are unique skins for melee weapons that are specific to a certain character. Whenever a new one comes out, players can gather 24 items during an event allowing them to buy that particular heirloom set. So if you’re a fan of Horizon, this should be an exciting prospect.

Yet again, Respawn hasn’t officially confirmed this, but it is already customary for each new season to tweak various aspects of the map. We’ll have to wait for the official gameplay trailer of Season 17, which will be out on May 1, to find out.

Apex Legends is currently free to play on most consoles and PC. There is also a mobile version of the game, Apex Legends Mobile, which is available for Android and iOS. And if you’re a massive fan of BR games, check out our best battle royale games list.
