So we won’t see any gameplay on this week’s PlayStation Showcase? Boo!

We know so far that the final defender of Earthrealm is revealed to be Fire God Liu Kang in the massive Mortal Kombat 1 trailer that was recently released. However, the sorcerer Shang Tsung has made a comeback in search of Earth’s greatest fighters after being wiped out from time at the end of Mortal Kombat 11. The fresh Mortal Kombat 1’s opening teaser was gory in typical Mortal Kombat form, but it has us wondering what the game will truly look like.

Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay will be shown at the Summer Games Fest

It won’t be long before we get our first peek at the gameplay as everyone, including us, is waiting for Mortal Kombat 1 to be launched. Geoff Keighley claims that on June 8, 2023, at the Summer Game Fest, we’ll see Mortal Kombat 1 for the first time in action. You can check his Twitter post below:

The organizer of Summer Games Fest and Game Awards host Geoff Keighley made the announcement earlier today on Twitter, stating Ed Boon would appear with him live to present gameplay footage. I think we can wait two more weeks and it will be totally worth it.

Ed Boon has stated that a new fighting concept and game modes will be included in Mortal Kombat 1, but we have little information on what these might be. We do know that the game will need 100 GB of storage on a PC thanks to its Steam listing, making it by far the biggest Mortal Kombat game ever created. Oh, and yes, Ed Boon also confirmed that Mortal Kombat 1 will feature new Origin Stories for characters, in a previous Twitter post. This got the fans really hyped as he confirmed Mileena will get a new story too.

The game will also feature the Kameo System, about which we don’t know much yet. But that will probably be settled on June 8 when the event will take place. But until then, why not go through the MK11 timeline again?

Grab Mortal Kombat 11 and relive the story

On Steam, Mortal Kombat 11 is currently available for a dazzling 90% discount for those who want to catch up on the Mortal Kombat saga before Mortal Kombat 1 releases on September 19. It’s possible that Mortal Kombat 11’s popularity, which recently reached a high of over 10,000 concurrent gamers on PC, can be attributed to this offer and the marketing buzz surrounding MK1. Even if it’s still not quite enough to topple Mortal Kombat 1’s highest player count from 2019, it’s definitely a positive development. And it makes sense.
