The latest Gamescom is currently underway, and a ton of new and old games are showing off their shiny trailers.

With new announcements and new trailers for already launched games, Gamescom 2023 is shaping up to be an incredible show. So let us show you some of the best games that have currently been shown at this year’s edition of Gamescom.

Alan Wake 2

The first Alan Wake game was a unique horror game that was underrated if you asked me. The fourth-wall-breaking horror story did a lot of things well, while also offering some great intense action sequences that always kept you on the edge of your seat. And Alan Wake 2 promises to do even more, with a new mind-bending story that already has me intrigued. Paired up with the customary amazing graphics that Remedy games always come with, Alan Wake 2 is definitely a title that should be on your radar if you’re a horror fan.

Tekken 8

Even though there’s not a lot to say about a game that is about to launch its eighth title in the series, Tekken 8 still holds a few surprises. The new graphics engine looks simply amazing, with beautiful renders of some of the best characters in Tekken history. Fans of fighting games have had quite a busy year with Street Fighter 6 coming out, which will soon be followed by Tekken 8 and Mortal Kombat 1. So start getting your fingers ready if you want to pull off those 20-hit combos.

Mortal Kombat 1

The Mortal Kombat reboot is still chugging along with more and more news details coming out. After resetting the story and creating a completely new arc for the series, Mortal Kombat 1 does many things reminiscent of the first game of the series. This includes character skins, arenas, and even certain combos and fatalities. Every aspect of this game is trying to tug on those nostalgia strings, and as far as we’ve seen, it’s definitely working. This newest trailer shows us some new characters and extra footage of the tag-team-styled battles.

Little Nightmares 3

The first two games in the series were some great 2.5D platformers with a very thought-out story. This will be continued in this sequel as you navigate a dangerously horrible world filled with nasty giants that will stop at nothing to feast on your character. Just like the second game in the series, Little Nightmares 3 also offers full co-op play for the campaign, allowing you to bear this oppressive world with the help of a friend.

Expeditions: A Mudrunner Game

The Mudrunner series came as a surprise hit that no one saw coming. Who thought that realistic off-road driving could have such a wide appeal in the gaming world? This game promises to do even better, with enhanced physics systems and an open world filled with difficult to traverse areas. So get ready to have your offroad driving skills challenged when this title comes out sometime next year.

Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss has been sitting on the success of Black Desert for some years now, with plenty of fans wondering when they would announce their next MMO title. And to everyone’s surprise, their next title will be a single-player RPG that looks very reminiscent of Dragon’s Dogma. With an action-oriented combat system that looks like it will give players a ton of freedom in how they want to approach encounters, Crimson Desert looks like a ton of fun. The graphical fidelity of the game is also incredible, offering some of the best open-world landscapes I’ve ever seen. Even though development has been rather slow, we can only hope for a 2024 release.

Killing Floor 3

The Killing Floor series is well known for offering some great co-op action where taking out various types of mutated zombies is the name of the game. The second game in the series also brought a very intricate gore system that allows players to take their enemies apart bit by bit. While this trailer for the third game of the series doesn’t show much gameplay, it gives us a nice look at the new engine and what it can do. We will have to wait and see how the actual gameplay of this game is going to shape up and what unique new flavors of zombie murder it will offer.

Delta Force

A name we haven’t heard in a while, the Delta Force IP has been picked up by the studio responsible for CoD: Mobile. The game promises to offer exciting ground-air-water combat in a similar fashion to the Battlefield games. Hopefully they won’t offer the same level of bug-riddled gameplay as well. While this trailer looks rather generic, it’s good to see smaller studios trying out their hand at new titles. And I have to admit, the Black Hawk Down aesthetic does press a few buttons in my brain at least.

Thank Goodness You’re Here

From the studio that made Untitled Goose Game, we have an even sillier game in the form of Thank Goodness You’re Here. The game will throw you in the shoes of a traveling salesman as he makes his way across an imaginary British town called Barnsworth. The townspeople will offer you increasingly difficult and ridiculous jobs that you have to take on. With a quirky hand-drawn style, I’m really excited to see more about this game in the coming months.
