With a longstanding history of success, Sega has just revealed the release date for the latest Like A Dragon game.

The love child of Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, Like A Dragon is the rebranded Yakuza series. After countless successful games that were clearly inspired by games like GTA or Saints Row, it looks like we’ll be getting a new game next year. The official release date has been revealed as 26 January, 2024. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.

In a new story trailer the developers have revealed a bit of the story. The main character Kasuga Ichiban is searching for his mother all around the globe, ending up in Honolulu, Hawaii. Since the series has always embraced comedy, this is an opportunity for some “fish out of water” styled situations. Along the way Kasuga will come across the original protagonist of the series, Kazuma Kiryu. You’ll be able to control Kazuma as well for certain portions of the game, which is also reminiscent of GTA 5.

The gameplay still focuses on picking up missions from various NPCs as you make your way across the city of Honolulu. As per usual there are countless side missions to pick up and mini-games that you can enjoy, including driving a cab or spending some time in an arcade with games like Virtua Fighter 3 or SpikeOut. All in all this looks like a great addition to the series, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it early next year.
