Nintendo are the masters of turning nostalgia into gold, and this latest nintendo direct was no different. so let’s take a look at some of the biggest announcements.

During the first Nintendo Direct for 2023, there were a ton of exciting announcements. Even though some were nothing new, we still got a few surprises with hardcore Nintendo fans foaming at the mouth. Here are some of the most important announcements from this event.

  • A narrative adventure game coming from Blthell Games titled Tron: Identity will come to Switch this April.
  • The Switch will also get the Dead Cells and Castlevania crossover on March 6.
  • New gameplay of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was shown. The game will be coming out on March 17 to the excitement of Bayonetta fans.
  • A remastered version of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective will be launched this summer. People who have never tried this classic title should keep an eye out for it.
  • Splatoon 3 is getting a new expansion pass that will take players to Squidopolis. Wave 1 of this new expansion pass system is starting this spring.
  • Level 5 has announced a weird cop RPG called Decapolice, featuring anthropomorphic animals in a surreal world.
  • Fans of the Pikmin series will be happy to see some new info about Pikmin 4. Apparently, some new critters will join the party; there’s a new camera angle and a new protagonist. Pikim 4 is still slated for a July 21, 2023 release.
  • Rhythm game Samba de Amigo: Party Central is coming out this summer. Even though Sega has struggled with the series in the past, this one looks like a fun time.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will get a new DLC. This DLC will bring in a new roguelike challenge mode that looks very interesting, plus a new hero. This DLC will be coming out on February 15.
  • New gameplay of the Disney platformer Illusion Island was shown, with a release date set for July 28. This looks like an excellent game to enjoy with your kids.
  • A demo for Octopath Traveler is out now on the Switch eShop before it finally gets launched later this month.
  • We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie finally has a release date set for June 2.
  • Games from the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance libraries will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online. The Game Boy Advance games will require an Expansion Pass subscription.
  • An entirely new Professor Layton game has been announced. Level 5 have confirmed that Professor Layton and the New World of Steam is currently in development, with a release date coming out later this year.
  • Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka announced a new detective game called Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, set to release on June 30.
  • Metroid Prime will be fully remastered for the Nintendo Switch, with a release planned for February 22.
