There are countless Nintendo Switch Star Wars games, but sometimes finding the right one can be a little tricky.

With the yearly Star Wars celebration on May 4th having come and gone, Star Wars fans all across the globe are excited about the upcoming shows, movies, and video games. But until some of those titles do eventually launch, there are still plenty of older Star Wars games that you can enjoy. Here are some of the best Star Wars Nintendo Switch games that you can pick up right now.

For Star Wars nerds who also have a penchant for pinball, this is a great title to pass the time. Each level is set up in a familiar setting from the movies, like the Death Star or Tatooine. And to make things even more immersive, each stage has its particular sounds, all of them accurate to the movies.

There’s not a lot to say about the gameplay, since it’s just pinball. You try your hardest to reach a high score until you lose all your lives and have to start all over. Every level you play through will change as you reach higher scores, which keeps things interesting.

Episode 1: Racer

Even though Episode 1 is still considered one of the worst movies in the series, pod racing was probably one of the best things to emerge from that disaster. This is why people who played it in the 2000s will have fond memories of this title.

Gameplay is short and sweet as you race across various futuristic arenas. The graphics are as outdated as you’d imagine, with some textures looking even more horrible on the Switch than on the older PC port. But that is not enough to diminish the fun that can be had with this game, including split-screen action with family and friends.

The Lego Star Wars games have been very successful, and the series’ latest title is no different. The story follows the entire main saga as you take control of various members of the Skywalker family. This will include certain parts of the story that weren’t fully covered in the movies like Anakin taking down the younglings.

Gameplay is the standard fare for a third-person action-adventure game, all of it in beautifully rendered Lego blocks. If you have kids that are just getting into the Star Wars universe, this could be an excellent entry point for them.

One of the best Star Wars Switch games to explore the FPS genre, Republic Commando is a classic. Take control of your squad of commando clone troopers during the horrific Clone Wars and pull off some covert operations.

Gameplay is surprisingly tactical, forcing you to use your entire squad well. You can issue orders to position your troopers in ideal spots before getting into a fight. Even though the graphics are very dated by now, they work well on the Switch, especially when played in portable mode on the 720p screen.

A classic Star Wars game that puts players in the shoes of Starkiller, Darth Vader’s secret Sith apprentice. The game’s story will give you plenty of choices in your alignment. Do you want to follow Vader’s order and embrace the Dark Side, or will you fight for the Light? The decision is entirely up to you.

The gameplay will also give you different powers depending on your alignment. This was one of the first games to give you full control over a wide range of Force powers, making it a must-play for true Star Wars fans.

If you’ve ever dreamed of joining the Jedi Academy and studying under Luke Skywalker, this game has got you covered. You will create your own Padawan before you start learning the ways of the Force. You will then be sent on various missions throughout the single-player campaign to prove yourself.

Anyone who has played this game in the old days knows that single-player wasn’t the game’s forte. Multiplayer was, allowing you to duel with players all over the world to prove who is the best lightsaber wielder. And this Switch port allows multiplayer with up to 16 players with improved controls that work great with Joy-Cons.

With a remake still in the works, this port of the best Star Wars RPG ever is still an amazing game that you have to try. With one of the best and most complex stories out of any Star Wars game, KOTOR still holds up great to this day.

Although the graphics are outdated, the turn-based combat is still a great example of “less is more”. Controls are simple and work great from a controller. All you have to do is decide if you will lead your story toward the Light or the Dark since your choices will modify crucial parts of the story.

Take control of Kyle Katarn, a Force-sensitive rebel operative on a mission to take out Stormtroopers and Sith across the galaxy. Even though this character is no longer canon, like a lot of other Star Wars games or books from the past, it’s still a great story to explore.

The gameplay might feel dated, but the port is pretty well-made, with controls working great on the Switch. After getting used to them, you’ll throw lightsabers and take out multiple enemies in no time.

While these are some of the best Star Wars from the past, the future is also looking pretty bright. With Disney eager to give any big studio a shot at making their own Star Wars game, it looks like we’ll see many Star Wars games for the foreseeable future. Sadly, Jedi Survivor will not be coming out for the Switch, which makes sense. Despite being one of the best-sold consoles ever, the Switch still lacks the raw computing power that other modern consoles offer. Still, let’s hope we’ll also see more Star Wars games on Switch.
