With the Xbox Games Showcase having come and gone, there are plenty of exciting titles on the horizon that have been announced.
The Microsoft-dominated event has been rife with plenty of new titles that look great, plus a few titles we already knew about. Here are some of the best games that you should be looking forward to.
Starfield
With a huge presentation dedicated to this Bethesda title, we got a better look at all the systems that make this expansive title work. Shooting and exploration look great, now let’s all hope that Bethesda won’t join the 2023 fad of game launches followed by a developer apology. Starfield will be out on September 6, 2023 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
Fable
Featuring British comedian Richard Ayoade, this Fable series reboot looks like it takes some unique artistic directions. The trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, but the world they’ve created looks original. This new Fable game is slated for a 2024 launch and will be coming to Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
South of Midnight
Even though we have no idea what the gameplay will look like, the stop-motion animation cinematic looked great. Apparently, South of Midnight will be an action-adventure title with a story that focuses on exploring American Deep South folklore with all the creepy crawlies that entails. No release date has been announced, but the game will be coming to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass, and Steam.
Star Wars Outlaws
With Disney eager to share the Star Wars rights with any big studio they can find, Ubisoft have just announced their own Star Wars game. By the looks of it, you’ll be taking control of a female scoundrel trying to make ends meet in a period set between Episodes 5 and 6. This will be the first truly open-world game set in the Star Wars universe and will come exclusively to Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2024.
PayDay 3
The best co-op FPS series that lets you rob banks alongside your friends is back with PayDay 3. Featuring the same bombastic action we’ve come to expect, only now with a new shiny coat of modern graphics. The trailer shows off some cool new gadgets that you’ll be able to use, like an automated turret to cover your back. Get ready for a life of crime with PayDay 3, coming out for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S on September 21, 2023.
Cities Skylines 2
Developers over at Colossal Order have announced their upcoming city-building sequel earlier this year, but now we got an actual look at some gameplay. And the graphics look amazing, with a more realistic sense of scale with towering skyscrapers and huge power plants. The interface looks mostly the same, with a few tweaks and additional settings to fiddle around with. Cities Skylines 2 will be out on October 24, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S.
