Bethesda doubles down and isn’t giving up on Redfall

Even though it had a pretty terrible launch, Bethesda seems not ready to let go of Redfall yet.

Created by Arkane Studios which brought us great games like Dishonored and more recently Deathloop, Redfall launched in a disastrous state. It quickly got shredded to bits by multiple streamers who noticed the amount of bugs that the game had, including enemies not reacting to the player. And while some AI issues can be forgiven, NPCs going full T-pose and doing nothing until they die is a bug you don’t really expect nowadays.

But it seems that people over at Bethesda are trying to look on the bright side of things. In a recent interview with Games Industry, Pete Hines who is the head of global publishing for Bethesda had this to say:

Redfall is no different for us. OK, we didn’t get the start we wanted, but it’s still a fun game. We’re going to keep working on it. We’re going to do 60fps. We’re going to get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever.”

Besides working on improving the game for the foreseeable future, it looks like they are betting on Game Pass users to keep interest in the game alive. And while Game Pass is a very successful subscription service that is well worth the money, I find it hard to believe that people will be interested in playing Redfall when so many options are available to us as gamers.
