Dropping at the same time as Phantom Liberty, Patch 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 is bringing a ton of new changes including some better CPU support.
Even though CD Projekt Red have slowly but surely improved Cyberpunk by a whole lot, the game still suffers from some issues. These include gameplay issues like a not very thought out skill tree. All of these will change though once Phantom Liberty comes out since it will fully rework the skill and implant. All of these are great reasons to start the game over with a fresh save and explore this improved iteration of Night City.
But alongside gameplay changes, Patch 2.0 is also bringing a lot of technical fixes as well. Since the game currently doesn’t fully support 8 and 16 core CPUs, developers have been hard at work on fixing this. And according to a tweet from Filip Pierściński who is a lead scene programmer at CDPR, we should all make sure that our CPUs are properly cooled and working at optimal settings. This will ensure that Phantom Liberty will be running as smooth as possible.
Before release CP2077 2.0 and PL please check conditions of your cooling systems in PC. We use all what you have, so workload on CPU 90% on 8 core is expected. To save your time please run Cinebench or similar and check stability of your systems 😉https://t.co/TWOAkP0ONu

This is good news for people who have slower systems, since their CPUs would have struggled more by using a lower number of cores. And this core problem has been an issue that has plagued multiple titles of the year. Seeing a game only use 2 out of your 8 cores can be extremely infuriating, especially if that game ends up running poorly due to this. Phantom Liberty will be out on September 26, 2023 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
