After the massive success of the first game, Team Cherry started work on a sequel that has been in the oven for almost five years.

The first Hollow Knight came out as one of the best platformers for Nintendo Switch and other platforms. The perfect mix of Metroidvania-styled exploration, tight platforming controls, and an engaging setting made it an instant classic. But the developers over at Team Cherry already had ideas for a sequel, which turned into the upcoming Hollow Knight: Silksong.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will put you in control of a character making a return from the first game. She is a female warrior named Hornet who can take on any threat. In the first game, you encounter her as a mini-boss that keeps stalking you and starting fights across the game. Silksong will allow you to use her highly mobile abilities to take down opponents.

While it was initially announced for 2020, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been delayed multiple times. This most recent delay came with more information about the project’s status. By the looks of it, the game kept growing with more and more ideas added into the fray, and developers didn’t want to cut any of them. This is why the launch date planned for the first half of 2023 has been pushed back.

No official release date has been announced, but developers estimate an early 2024 launch. Hollow Knight: Silksong will be out for consoles, PC, and Macs.
