A unique city builder is being worked on as a follow-up to The Falconeer. And it’s being made by a one-man team.
Developer Tomas Sala gained success with the launch of his first game, The Falconeer. This aerial combat game puts you in control of a towering warbird as you navigate a Sci-Fi/Nautical world. Along the way, as you dash and dive into combat, there are countless weapons to equip your warbird with. Mutagens that upgrade the base stats of your flying mount can also be found. Even though most of the game is linear, with missions you pick up, you can also freely explore the world and take on side missions.
Taking place in the same universe, Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles puts you in control of a colony striving to survive in this harsh land. A unique feature is the freeform building mode which is very easy to get into. Place buildings wherever you like, and the game will automatically construct pathways between them. Besides the city-building mechanics, you can also take control of an airship as you explore your surroundings. This will allow you to find new resource nodes or recruits. And some of these recruits have unique traits that will allow you to upgrade certain parts of your colony.
Even though city-builders are everywhere nowadays, this looks like a pretty unique entry into this genre. Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles will be coming out for Microsoft Windows with no release date yet announced. Until then, you can check out the demo right now on Steam.
