After the huge success that Among Us sparked, deception games have become a genre that can make you distrustful of even your closest friends.

Deception games are nothing new in the gaming world. They’ve been around for quite some time, even though most were board games. But ever since Among Us started gaining traction on Twitch, deception games have created their own scene with plenty of interesting titles. It’s great to see more and more studios trying their hand at this genre, since there are still plenty of ideas to try out.

One of the newest deception games is DUBIUM, currently in development by MUMO Studio. The game has gone through multiple playtests, with thousands of players trying it out and coming out with a good impression. This Early Access release will come packed with a new character, an improved Battle Pass, an integrated chat system, and a bunch of character cosmetics.

MUMO Studio CEO KiHoon Choi said this during a recent press release: “After three successful playtest events, we’re indebted to the thousands of players who took the time to share their thoughts on our project. We’re incredibly proud of all the features and enhancements our development team has implemented over the last year, and we can’t wait to introduce DUBIUM to a broader audience. We’ll continue working very closely with the community as we update the game on the road to its 1.0 launch.”

Similarly to Among Us, DUBIUM takes place in a science-fiction universe aboard a derelict space station. Five members of Shadd Enterprise, a mercenary group will be tasked with completing missions on board this ship. But nothing is clear-cut since one of you is a covert operative working for Shadd’s enemy, Blamane. Survivors will be tasked with fixing various systems on the station, with the traitor trying his best to delay your team. You can opt to work together or spread out across the station. You can try defeating the Traitor, but that will only force Blamane to turn another of your teammates into a Traitor.

Currently, DUBIUM has five characters to choose from: Jessica Fernandez who is an ex-soldier, Sergei Tulinov the former wrestler, the ace hacker Zack Zhou, Sobok Ee the diver, and Ryan Goldman, who is a Patrick Bateman styled psychopath. Alongside these five, Archie Lang, an ex-hunter who is a master of traps, will join the roster with the Early Access release.

DUBIUM will be out for PC via Steam on June 14 for $14.99. The game will be launching in Early Access with a full launch yet to be announced. Check out the newest trailer for the game below.
