Are you looking to team up with friends in Dying Light 2 because umm… It’s more fun, that’s right. Not too scary or anything like that.
In the ever-expanding universe of survival horror games, Dying Light 2 Stay Human, released in 2022, stands out as a unique blend of frights and fights. Doubling down on the original Dying Light game with an innovative combination of RPG elements such as weapon crafting and a quest system, Stay Human has imprinted its own mark on the genre with new features and ideas such as the dialogue options (which don’t make much of a difference if we’re being honest). The parkour element is another facet that fans were drawn to in this distinctive take on a zombie apocalypse.
In spite of these interesting aspects and new features, the sequel didn’t quite manage to replicate the tremendous success of its predecessor, the original 2015 Dying Light game, which was an undisputed masterpiece. To this day, the original game has a rare score of “Overwhelmingly Positive” on Steam. However, Dying Light 2: Stay Human has secured a loyal fan base with its trademark cooperative play recipe that permits up to 4 player sessions. This unique feature enhances the thrill of slaying zombies and looting in the dystopian wastelands of Villedor, together with your friends, but the question still remains.

Is Dying Light 2 cross platform?
Amid the mix of information circulating online about Dying Light 2’s crossplay capabilities, it is necessary to clear the air. As of 2023, the game does not support any form of cross platform play. Despite its high anticipation, Dying Light 2 experienced a fair share of delays, and the introduction of crossplay has been hindered by “complex technical challenges”. Consequently, the developers have focused their resources on necessary bug fixes and patches, rather than enabling cross platform multiplayer capabilities. They were also busy launching the game’s first major DLC titled Bloody Ties.
Dying Light 2 is cross gen
Despite the absence of cross platform play, Dying Light 2 Stay Human recently made strides with the implementation of a cross generation (cross gen) feature. This permits multiplayer sessions across different versions of the same console (from the same console family). You can now play seamlessly between Xbox One and Xbox Series S, X, as well as between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. This is a promising step towards the goal of the complete dying light 2 crossplay experience.
Is Dying Light 2 going to support crossplay at some point?
Techland, the developers behind Dying Light, have shown a remarkable commitment to their games, with the original Dying Light receiving over 8 years of support and still counting. This commitment gives us hope that a crossplay feature might indeed be in the pipeline for Dying Light 2. Such a feature would allow cross platform play between Xbox and PlayStation consoles, as well as between PC and consoles. For now, though, fans of the Dying Light 2 coop multiplayer experience will need to enjoy the game within the same platform or the same console family (cross gen).
While Dying Light 2 might not have reached the heights of its predecessor, it continues to build a dedicated fan base through its immersive gameplay and cooperative multiplayer. As we anticipate the possibility of a future dying light 2 cross platform play, we can still enjoy the thrills of this distinctive survival horror experience in its current form.
