After a few troubled years due to the pandemic and various scandals surrounding it, E3 was back on track for this year. But bad news to fans of the show, it’s been canceled again.

E3 was scheduled to take place between June 13th and June 16th of this year. Throughout these days there would be special events only for the press as well as plenty of events open to everyone. But rumors have been popping up for some while that this year’s event might be canceled, and now it’s official. Here is a statement from the global VP of gaming at ReedPop, Kyle Marsden-Kish :

“This was a difficult decision because of all the effort we and our partners put toward making this event happen, but we had to do what’s right for the industry and what’s right for E3. We appreciate and understand that interested companies wouldn’t have playable demos ready and that resourcing challenges made being at E3 this summer an obstacle they couldn’t overcome. For those who did commit to E3 2023, we’re sorry we can’t put on the showcase you deserve and that you’ve come to expect from ReedPop’s event experiences.”

To be fair, you can’t even blame the company itself for this annulment. The reality is that the industry itself ended E3. Every big company in the gaming industry has announced that they will be doing their own shows. This includes Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Bethesda, Ubisoft, EA, and many more, including indie publishers like Devolver Digital. So while we won’t be getting it all in one place, there’s still plenty to look forward too when it comes to new trailers and game announcements.
