Vela Games have just announced their newest title called Evercore Heroes, an interesting spin on the usual MOBA fare we’ve grown accustomed to.
Although everything like the isometric view and the heroes makes Evercore Heroes look like a MOBA, it’s really not. It combines elements that you would usually see in a MOBA game but with a complete focus on PvE. Instead of duking it out with the enemy team, your goal is to take on various challenging packs of mobs which are more similar to an MMORPG raid. These encounters will drop Luum, the game’s main resource. Whoever reaches a set amount of Luum or has the most when the game ends will emerge victorious. Groups of mobs will also sporadically attack your team, forcing you to get back to base and put up a defense.
In the past year, a lucky few have gotten the opportunity to test out Evercore Heroes, with a closed beta preparing for a June 20 launch this year. Vela Games have already announced that the game will be free-to-play once it launches sometime towards the end of 2023. Getting into the closed beta will require buying one of the three types of founder’s packs, each with their own drops. Here is what you can get in these packs:
- Founder ($20): A special Founder’s battle pass, one friend key, Lotus, Sydian
- Legend ($50): On top of everything in the Founder pack, you get Blink, the legendary Bluumtech skin for Blink, a legendary beta version of Magigraph, $10 of in-game currency, and an exclusive Discord role to show off
- Evercore Hero ($80): You will get everything that can be found in the Legend pack plus two extra keys for your friends, Cynder, a mythic Celestial Cynder skin, the legendary Cynder Magigraph, a Celestial Cynder mythic emote, and $5 more that you can spend in the in-game store
On top of these goodies, players who buy any of these packs will also get instant access to heroes Beko, Fyn, Shade, and Zari. So if you’re interested in this title, purchasing the cheapest package might be a good idea to get ahead of other players with a bigger roster of heroes at your disposal.
Evercore Heroes has announced that the game will launch with a total of 16 heroes, which will be split across the three roles of DPS, Tank, and Support. Vela Games have also talked about its goal of setting up a unique matchmaking system to pair players who are just trying out a new hero with players who are doing the same. This is all in an effort to address the issue of toxicity, which has plagued MOBA games since the early days of DOTA 1. And speaking of DOTA, you might be interested in the DOTA 2 New Frontiers expansion, which has just launched.
