Looking for games like the Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? Well, these are the titles where you can have a similar adventure to Link’s latest endeavour.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is an amazing story where you follow Link through his latest odyssey. You will probably take more than one day to complete, because, like the first instalment, Tears of the Kingdom is huge and should require hundreds of hours to get to the ending and get a taste of everything.
You can speed-run the game in 40 to 50 hours, but it would be against any logic because the game is simply amazing. However, if you’re done with it already (or don’t have a Nintendo Switch to play on), we’re going to delight you with some amazing games like Zelda Tears of the Kingdom providing you with probably several other hundreds of hours of similar gameplay. And no, we haven’t included other Zelda games as we tried bringing you something different yet similar to this experience.
We carefully selected the titles by looking at a number of factors, including gameplay, scenery, mythology, combat, and game art. You can be sure that the majority of the games we listed will be enjoyable if the game made it on our list of games similar to Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Now, let’s see which are the top games, starting with my personal favourite.
Immortals Fenyx Rising
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Google Stadia, Microsoft Windows, Amazon Luna, Nintendo Switch.
Release Date: December 3, 2020.
Immortals Fenyx Rising from Ubisoft is a game that most likely wouldn’t even exist without Zelda. The open-world adventure and dungeon-based puzzle-solving touches of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are combined in this amazing game’s vast, Greek mythology-inspired setting. Immortals pretty much follows every Zelda characteristic: acquiring new tools and skills? It’s similar in Immortals. Entering dungeons and figuring out puzzles? Immortals also has that. Want to test your new tools against some tough bosses? Immortals got that too. The game also has a really fresh feeling and in our hunt for games like The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, Immortals Fenyx Rising is probably the top one.
Genshin Impact
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.
Release Date: September 28, 2020.
Without Breath of the Wild, the game that preceded Tears of the Kingdom, Genshin Impact is another game that probably wouldn’t exist. Its style is heavily influenced by Zelda, including the expansive areas, loose climbing, and elemental skills that cleverly interact with the environment. It also goes far enough to distinguish itself from Link and Hyrule, making it one of the best free-to-play games available right now. Another amazing thing about Genshin Impact’s massive playable roster is its main selling point. You will spend a lot of time fine-tuning your squad of four to ensure that their elemental skills complement one another for optimal effect. Each has its own playstyles and synergies. Besides the latter, it is worthy of our list of games like The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and it will hook you up with hundreds of hours of gameplay.
Biomutant
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch.
Release Date: May 25, 2021.
Bugs caused BioMutant’s 2021 launch to be difficult. After completing The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, it is now a good time to jump back in or play for the first time because many of those bugs have been resolved. The protagonist of the game is a mutant being that you can modify both visually and from a gameplay point of view. The entire world is enormous, and there is plenty of strange weaponry to collect, from swords to firearms. We recommend this game because it is quite similar to Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, and it has some next-gen graphics.
Tunic
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch.
Release Date: March 16, 2022.
One of the indie favourites of 2022, Tunic was developed by Isometricorp Games. To release the imprisoned spirit of another fox, you play the role of a cute human-like fox in the course of the game. Tunic pulls the fundamental gameplay mechanics from some Zelda titles. The game’s design holds the core that underpins what makes The Legend of Zelda series so enduring, even though Tears of the Kingdom may be carrying on with this bold new 3D open-world model. The game has a rhythmic combat system, puzzle-solving activities, and progression that emphasizes exploration, offering an experience that is similar to Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
Evoland
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Android, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Nintendo Switch.
Release Date: April 4, 2013.
Next on our Hylian-inspired list: a title that did not get the attention it should have when it was launched. Evoland is a cute creation that follows the history of gaming: you’ll start playing just with a few pixels and end up in a three-dimensional adventure. While not entirely similar to Tears of the Kingdom, if you enjoyed Link’s latest adventure you will definitely enjoy this title too.
Sable
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: September 23, 2021
Sable ranks as one of the best Zelda clones, which makes it a fantastic game for fans of Tears of the Kingdom. Like Tears of the Kingdom, Sable transports players to a magical location, however this time it’s a desert that resembles Gerudo. The story follows the titular character as she embarks on her first voyage away from home. She’ll get the ability to visit several ruins, converse with the diverse population of the desert, and even gather Chum Eggs, Sable’s equivalent of Korok seeds. What’s cool about this game is that there is no combat, so if you’re a peaceful kind of person you’ll have fun playing it.
Death Stranding
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows
Release Date: December 3, 2020
Death Stranding by Kojima Productions is a similar open-world adventure even though it has a less conventional name. You’ll roam around the devastated United States, bringing supplies to isolated colonies and assisting them in reestablishing contact with larger civilizations. The way you interact with the surroundings is similar to Tears of the Kingdom, and Death Stranding uses that idea in a more thrilling and dark way. If you had fun with Link, you’ll have fun with Sam as well in Death Stranding.
Pokemon Legends: Arceus
Platforms: Nintendo Switch
Release Date: January 28, 2022
Tears of the Kingdom did to Zelda what Arceus did to Pokemon. One of the most intriguing Pokemon games ever made was Legends: Arceus, which transformed the series from a more linear and closed environment into vast, systems-driven open worlds. The same as in Tears of the Kingdom, you can explore huge regions, fly through the skies with the help of a mount. If you enjoyed Tears of the Kindom, Pokemon Legends: Arceus is gonna be a title you’ll love!
Tchia
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows
Release Date: March 21, 2023
Awaceb’s Tchia is a brand-new indie videogame with scenery resembling the one in Tears of the Kingdom. The main character of the game is tasked with exploring a huge archipelago that was modeled by the actual French region of New Caledonia. If you’re into games like Zelda Tears of The Kingdom you can surely add Tchia to your wishlist.
Horizon Forbidden West
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4
Release Date: February 18, 2022
In Forbidden West, Aloy, the game’s protagonist, has to fight against machines who threaten to rip the entire world apart, just like in Tears of the Kingdom. Additionally, there are chances to explore the skies, particularly in Horizon Forbidden West’s freshly released Burning Shores DLC. Besides that, Horizon Forbidden West is truly a graphical masterpiece which you will sure enjoy if you had fun in Tears of The Kingdom.
