Valorant is cool but did you ever think of breaking the Ascent doors and trying some similar titles? If that’s a positive, it’s your lucky day! Stick around to see the top games like Valorant.
Valorant is a free hero FPS created and published by Riot Games for PC. The game was teased in 2019 and released in June of the following year and since then, it has built a strong community, getting great success with more than 11 million of active players each month. If you enjoy the game but you decided to try some games like Valorant, this one’s for you. There’s plenty of other first-person games similar to Valorant available, this is why we’ve taken the luxury of gathering some of the shiniest games just for you. So, descending from Haven, we have the following titles:
Overwatch
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: May 24, 2016
This huge hit was created by Blizzard Entertainment and released by Activision following a big success. If you’re a fan of Valorant, you’ll want to check out this title because it both looks and feels quite similar. Overwatch also held for some years the title of the most team-based hero shooter game. Despite being quite similar to Valorant, Overwatch is considerably simpler because the developers used a traditional strategy: as a member of a team of six players, you will either strive for positions that are against your opponents or defend your current positions. If you’re searching for Valorant-like games, Overwatch is surely the top choice.
Team Fortress 2
Platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows
Release Date: May 24, 2016
Steam old-timers, hold your tears. Even though the community for team-based online shooters had expanded significantly since Team Fortress 2’s release more than ten years ago, and many titles appeared, the game continued to receive updates, which kept it feeling fresh and alive. Team Fortress 2 helped set the standard and is my personal favourite in this genre. Although this game’s popularity declined over time, it is incredible that the creators continued to release updates. Valorant is essentially a Team Fortress 2 development, which is fantastic, but the second is a better choice for gamers who want their games to have a nostalgic impact. If you haven’t played Team Fortress 2, you should give it a go and take my word that it is a worthy game for the top games like Valorant! Meeediiic!
Apex Legends
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: May 24, 2016
Even though it doesn’t travel too far from the fundamentals, Apex Legends, is one of the more recent free-to-play first-person shooters and has grown to be one of the genre’s most well-known games. The main characters in the game are interesting and varied, and the seasonal style that gradually introduces fresh content to consumers also contributes to the title’s success. Should you hunt for games like Valorant, Apex Legends will be one of your favourites!
Paladins
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: September 16, 2016
Speaking of free-to-play hero shooters, you should give Paladins a try. The 5v5 action is split into the payload-based mode of Siege, the objective-based game mode Onlsought, and the classic team deathmatch play style. As a champion of the realm, you can not only employ weapons and magic, but you may also totally change your primary powers to determine your playstyle, which sets Paladins’ gameplay apart from those of its rivals. The gameplay of your champion is defined by a deck-building mechanism in Paladins, which gives you a ton of cards to customize your champion into different playstyles.
Borderlands 3
Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, macOS, Xbox Series X and Series S
Release Date: September 13, 2019
The staple looter shooter, Borderlands 3, has a wild atmosphere that supports the post-apocalyptic plot and character-driven decision-making. The ideal game for anyone seeking something a little more ludicrous than Valorant, Borderlands 3 has the same advanced graphic design and dark humour as previous instalments.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
Platforms: Microsoft Windows, GeForce Now, macOS, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Linux, Xbox 360, and Classic Mac OS
Release Date: August 21, 2012
Not many words are needed to describe this (g)oldie. If you enjoy the bomb-planting/diffusing game mode in Valorant, then you’re surely going to like CSGO as well. The game isn’t actually a hero shooter but it is worth adding to our list of games similar to Valorant. I think you should give it a try for a competitive shooter experience that you should feel at least once. Also, speaking of CSGO and Team Fortress 2, they were both built with the same engine, and we recommend you try our Source 2 engine games for more great titles.
Fortnite
Platforms: Xbox Cloud Gaming, GeForce Now, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS
Release Date: July 21, 2017
Fortnite is probably the biggest of the games similar to Valorant. The huge fanbase and great development teams grow every day together with this title. You’ll surely enjoy Fortnite because it is so much more complex than Valorant in many ways. Why don’t you go download it right away? Oh, and I almost forgot, if you’re looking for mobile games like Valorant, Fortnite is available there too.
Tom Clancy’s The Division 2
Platforms: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows
Release Date: March 1, 2019
This is the follow-up to Tom Clancy’s The Division and is set in a near-future Washington, D.C. following a Strategic Homeland Division operative as they attempt to reconstruct the city after a genetically produced virus called “Green Poison” has been spread. If you are a Valorant fan, you might find some similarities from a “shooter” point of view.
Escape from Tarkov
Platforms: Microsoft Windows
Release Date: July 27, 2017
The goal of this genre-defining title is for players to make it out of the city alive. Matches are session-based, with both human players and AI-driven Scavs populating the landscape to provide a constant sense of hazard. As a Valorant fan, I can say that this title might give you some hours of fun. Escape from Tarkov has defined the relatively new FPS sub-genre of extraction shooters and a title that needs to be tried out by any Valorant fans.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)
Platforms: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows, iOS, Android
Release Date: July 30, 2016
I don’t even have to go into details about why PUBG is one of the greatest games ever made. The battle-royale mode in those huge maps is nothing less than a great adventure that once you fall for, it gets better and better. However, nowadays there is a chance you won’t enjoy the game as much because of the veterans and cheaters out there. But if you’re into games like Valorant, you should give PUBG a chance, especially if you have some gaming buddies. I promise you’ll (most likely) have a great time!
