Ever since the Steam Deck launched, more and more companies are trying to come up with their own variant.

After ASUS announced and launched the ROG Ally as a direct competitor to the Steam Deck, it looks like Lenovo is rearing up to offer its own answer to the handheld question. Even though Lenovo are generally known for their laptops and PCs, it’s not their first foray into the world of handhelds. They have talked in the past about their efforts to come up with a portable Android device that promised some great hardware capabilities, but nothing came to fruition. Whether they thought it didn’t stand a chance against the Steam Deck or the R&D just wasn’t there is as of yet unknown.

But recent news have brought to our attention that Lenovo are indeed preparing to announce a new handheld, which will be called the Lenovo Go. By all accounts it’s going to be a Windows device, operating with the same AMD CPU that powers the ROG Ally and the Ayaneo 2S. It will feature an 8-inch display and will look very similar to their canceled Legion Play device. Running Windows is pretty much a given since besides the Steam Deck which runs a proprietary Linux OS, all other devices are based on the Windows OS.

We don’t know a lot about this device as of yet, but what we do know sounds promising. And in any case, more companies trying to make their way into the handheld market is good news for users. Because as we all know, competition is good and can lead to some pretty great products in the long run.
