The next game in the Layers of Fear series has received a new trailer from developer Bloober Team, alongside tweaking the name.
Even though Bloober Team were a small studio, the first Layers of Fear game cemented them as an up-and-coming developer with much promise. Even though the first game was relatively short, its excellent pacing and many scares made it an instant horror classic. The story’s primary focus is an artist who obsesses over the completion of his greatest work of art and his spiral into madness due to this obsession.
Team Bloober is also working hard on the Silent Hill 2 remake. This could be their big break into becoming a AAA studio focused on horror titles. Since Silent Hill is a huge series, this is also a dangerous play on their part. If they succeed, the entire horror community will love them for it. But failing regarding such a popular series is also possible, especially in these vitriolic times when social media can make or break a video game launch.
The brand new teaser for the third Layers of Fear game opens up with a lighthouse and a short glimpse into how this game will tie into the rest of the series. The Polish developers changed the game’s name, dropping an “s” from the original Layers of Fears title. Could this also be a clue into the story of this title? We will have to wait and see. Layers of Fear is set for a June 2023 release.
