After Sony announced their upcoming handheld device that will only be able to handle PS5 streaming, users have taken to Reddit to express their opinions.

Sony has recently announced a rather weird handheld device in the form of the PlayStation Portal. What makes this announcement peculiar is the fact that while many were expecting an actual portable console, it’s mostly a streaming device that can help you play on your PS5 through your Wi-Fi connection. While this can be extremely useful for people who want to play from another room or have to share a TV, many fans were quick to judge this decision as a huge mistake on Sony’s part.

While initial reactions from the industry were somewhat positive, users quickly went to Reddit and created topics like this one to express their opinions. And it wasn’t pretty, with plenty arguing that after the fiasco that was the PS Vita, it seems like Sony is genuinely clueless about what their audience wants when it comes to portable consoles.

The dislikes to like ratio is crazy.

And it seems even more apparent if you realize that the PS Vita currently has the capacity to do everything this PlayStation Portal can and more. Sure, it doesn’t have an 8-inch screen, but you can still stream PS4 and PS5 gameplay easily. And to top it off it has its own library of games, with some pretty cool exclusives. So, while it might be a nice gadget to have around the house, Sony fans are dismayed by the lack of any actual gaming capabilities besides streaming, and we can’t really blame them.
