Lots of amazing games and a few hardware surprises!
The PlayStation Showcase finally took place yesterday and now we know what PlayStation 5 owners will smash their console on over the coming year. We received a lot of what we were waiting for as well as a few unexpected surprises, both games and hardware. There was a lot to take in since the program lasted more than an hour and over thirty titles were unveiled. Here you can find to most anticipated announcements. Enjoy!
Big titles found their way into the PlayStation Showcase
The PlayStation Showcase featured details about forthcoming games from PlayStation Studios and third-party developers in addition to enticing first views at brand-new games that are currently in production.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Finally! Insomniac dropped some fresh Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay, and we can tell you that it looks kind of amazing! The trailer features new mechanics, locations and yes, more villains.
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
The PlayStation Showcase also featured the upcoming Metal Gear Solid title, without much info given, just some captivating announcement trailer.
Marathon
Marathon, a sci-fi PvP extraction shooter, is Bungie’s first brand-new project in more than ten years, according to an official announcement. The first CGI teaser trailer for the game, which features a peek at the playable characters, cyborg mercenaries known as Runners, was released by the company.
Concord
Congrats, PlayStation, you are getting closer to your multiplayer goal! With Sony acquiring Firewalk Studios last month, Concord is the ice-breaker and will be a PVP multiplayer FPS coming to PS5 and PC in 2024.
Other amazing big titles presented that are worth mentioning:
- Destiny 2: The Final Shape
- Street Fighter 6 – World Tour trailer
- Fairgame$
- Alan Wake 2
- Assassin’s Creed Mirage
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Ghostrunner 2
- The Talos Principle
PSVR2 announcements
For the PSVR2 owners, we got what everybody was expecting, but without any official information: Beat Saber launched today! Other than that, Resident Evil 4 VR mode has been revealed, together with Arizona Sunshine 2 which will be launched this year and Synapse, an immersive action-shooter that is launching on July 4.
PlayStation Showcase Hardware announcements
The first piece of hardware revealed is an interesting approach as a piece of hardware, more of an accessory if we can call it so. Project Q is a dedicated device that can stream from your PS5 over WiFi. If you ask me, that’s pretty cool because sometimes the couch gaming gives me some neck pain, and this device will allow me to game straight from the bed. Thumbs up for this back-friendly device, haha! Oh, and the controller has the same functionality and haptic feedback as the DualSense.
And last, but not least, Sony comes with a fresh-looking pair of next-gen PlayStation earbuds that can be connected via Bluetooth and used on your smartphone as well. They promise that the quality of the buds will be outstanding and this kind of gets us hyper for them.
The PlayStation Showcase was truly packed with some amazing announcements and I think we can say it rose up to the expectations it created back in 2021. As a closing note, we can’t wait to try some of the games announced and we also want to congratulate every single developer and person that took part in the show, as you guys, make our lives better!
