Diving into 2023, we can all agree that the PS5 Pro reveal is getting closer. That’s why we scraped the internet and put together the most blistering rumors.

There are a lot of PS5 rumors saying that the upgraded console is most likely in the making, despite there being no official information from Sony. The tech giant has experience with mid-generation console upgrades as the PS4 Pro was introduced three years after the original PlayStation 4 first went on sale. Now there are rumors that the PS5 is planning something similar.

The above rumour is based on the fact that the PlayStation 4 Slim and the more expensive PlayStation 4 Pro both debuted in September 2016 following the PS4’s introduction in November 2013. The PlayStation 3 experienced a similar situation, with a further three years passing between its 2006 debut and the release of the Slim model in 2009. In late 2023, if Sony sticks to the same schedule, we may see the PS5 Slim and/or PS5 Pro.

Playstation 5 Pro specs

With support for 4K gameplay at 120Hz in some games, ray tracing, and generally opulent graphics across the board, the PS5 is already a very potent machine. However, unlike the transition from 1080p to 4K, a PS5 Pro is unlikely to offer a noticeable improvement in resolution and frame rate. However, despite the capability being promoted on the console’s retail box, the PS5 is still unable to produce any games in 8K resolution. As a result, possibly the PS5 Pro console will aim for the next-generation resolution standard. One game, The Touryst, has previously been demonstrated to run at 8K/60fps on the PS5, although it is presently only available for 4K viewing.

Techradar also mentioned that although 8K displays aren’t now widely available, in three years they should be more reasonably priced and available to non-enthusiast users. Remember, Sony also makes TVs. The Japanese corporation may seek to utilize the PS5 Pro to promote sales of its 8K TVs, just like it did with the PS3, which helped Blu-Ray win the disc format battle.

There is another rumour that the Sony PlayStation 5 Pro will feature a suite of AMD Zen 4 CPUs and RDNA-3 GPUs. In addition, regarding the disc and digital versions, because of the criticism previously received, Sony will launch only one version for each type(Slim and Pro) with an extra USB Type-C port placed at the back of the console where a detachable disk drive can be connected.

Playstation 5 Pro price

According to a Forbes article written by Paul Tassi, it is rumoured that the PS5 Pro price should be around $600-700. This is based on the below video:

A source claims that Sony is already developing the PS5 Pro, which is expected to go on sale between late 2023 and early 2024 for between $600 and $700. At the previous pricing, it would be $200 more expensive than the PS4 Pro and identical to the PS3 launch price. Without taking inflation into account, the latter price would make it the most costly PlayStation system to date. Of course, the console will have the technology and specifications to justify this pricing, but at that price, most people won’t care how strong or sophisticated it is.

Playstation 5 Pro release date

Based on the above rumors and sources, we can expect the Sony Playstation 5 Pro console in late 2023 – early 2024. Zuby_Tech posted a tweet saying that a new rumour has entered the game, that of the PS5 Pro going into mass production in April.

Also in a tweet posted by Tom Henderson, the owner of InsiderGamingIG, the PS5 Pro console is coming out in 2023-2024. There are some images from a TCL Technology presentation at a new conference.

Will there be a PS5 Pro?

According to the PS5 Pro Reddit, there are several posts and user mentioning there is absolutely no point in a PS5 Pro, and that all the rumors are just rubbish. Redditor @tranceformerfx777 seems pretty confident about three things. Firstly, there is a PS5 shortage – which is no longer true because we saw Sony confirming the restock. The second, which we kind of agree with, is referring to the power of PS5, what could you want more? And third, the PS5 Pro will have bad returns – which might actually be true as the PS5 restock was just made.

PS5 Pro? Why? To Rub It In Our Face? from gaming

Another PS5 Pro Reddit post questions the decision of Sony making the PS5 Pro or accelerating the PS6 release, based on overpowered GPUs that appeared in the market lately.

Could new OP GPUs force Sony to make PS5 Pro or accelerate PS6? from PS5

Despite having no PS5 news from Sony, we already got some hints a while ago, which we explained in a previous article about the PS5 Pro.

Since the PlayStation 5 was released in 2018, we believe it is already well-accepted that 2023 will be a significant year for Sony. Hideaki Nishino, Sony’s Vice President, made a subtle allusion to this when speaking with Famitsu. He steadfastly refused to provide any further information, though, at the time the interview was conducted. We’ll use his exact words: “We believe that cumulative sales will exceed 37 million units by the end of fiscal 2022 and that it will be a very important time for the platform as well” and “I won’t be able to talk about specifics at this time, but I hope that you will look forward to next year (2023)”.

The PS5 Pro controller called DualSense Edge was also released a couple of months ago. The controller looks and feels amazing. This version was designed for professional players. It comes with a few brand-new additional features for increased accessibility. It was also designed to make it easier to customize the controller and reach the exact playstyle and preferences you opt for.

The new pad has an adjustable trigger length, switchable stick caps, and increased versatility for the back buttons. It also features customizable controller profiles, preset profiles for stick sensitivity and some extra function buttons.

Giving that the PS5 is so hard to get your hands on these days, we can only imagine how the PS5 Pro will be in terms of availability. In the meantime, keep an eye out for our PlayStation 5 restock article.
