In an effort to promote their new Aston Martin skins, PUBG teamed up with WackyJacky101, Aston Martin, and BBC’s Top Gear, to produce one cool marketing material video.
Henrik Kjærulff, better known as WackyJacky101 in the gaming world, has been at the forefront of PUBG’s efforts to better communicate with the PUBG community, sort of like a community manager. This time, PUBG really went all out with their marketing budget, getting the legendary motorsport show Top Gear to produce the promotional video for them. In the recently published video, WackyJacky101 is trained by no other than former British Formula 1 pilot, Damon Hill, to hone his racing skills around the Silverstone racing track in the brand-new Aston Martin DBX707, a high-performance sports SUV available as a skin in PUBG. Damon Hill has a track record of 22 races, and scored 42 podiums in the 90’s, being labeled in the past as Michael Schumacher’s #1 rival.
WackyJacky101 said in a recent reaction video posted on his YouTube channel, that he’s passionate about motorsports, and has started streaming on Twitch sim-racing games such as iRacing from his brand-new cockpit set-up. He continued to say that it was a privilege to work with PUBG, Top Gear, Aston Martin, and legendary race driver Damon Hill, an opportunity that doesn’t seem real and comes once in a lifetime.
The new Aston Martin skins available in PUBG (similar to the previous McLaren skins) were met with a bit of controversy among the Battle Royale community, being seen as unnecessary, expensive, and out of place in a game like PUBG. But hey, beggars can’t be choosers, after all, the game became free-to-play on January 12, 2022, across all platforms, so the minimum we can do is endure some flashy vehicle skins throughout the battlegrounds.
