Vikendi receives a massive rework from PUBG’s developers, but will it be for the best?
Codename Vikendi Reborn, the snowy 6x6KM map released back in December of 2018 got a massive overhaul, probably changing the whole gameplay dynamic for the better or worse.
Vikendi Reborn new map
Here are some key features and changes from what we’ve seen so far:
- All cities were removed and/or reworked and had their names changed.
- Existing locations like Coal mine, Dino park (Dinoland now) have been updated and shifted on the map.
- From the hints PUBG made on their latest Facebook post, Vikendi Reborn could be smaller in size, 4x4KM most likely.
“What do you think the map’s size will be?” – source
*Or it could be that they’ve made it bigger into 8x8KM, thus joining the big map gang; Erangel, Miramar, Taego, and the recent Deston. - A new ski lift feature has been added that will take players from the mountains to nearby cities.
- New locations have been added;
– Observatory, which looks similar to the Lab location from Paramo.
– Train Station, where you will able to take trains around the map (or they’ve removed them completely, this remains to be seen). - A new Danger Zone feature has been added, which is a tornado, spawning randomly on the map. It will be interesting to see if this will affect the player’s health or if it will just be visually impairing, similar to the fog on Sanhok.
- The river cutting the map in half is now mostly gone, being moved to the far northwest side of the map. It’s worth mentioning that the river is all frozen now. In the trailer below, PUBG hits at possibly a new game mechanic as we can hear ice crackling.
