Redfall launch issues: With yesterday’s release, the game seems to be a big disappointment so far. But why be sad when you can have a laugh at the Redfall bugs we put together?
Arkane, the same company that created Dishonored and Prey, just released Redfall, a vampire shooter that launched this week for Xbox and PC. It’s a first-party exclusive for Microsoft in 2023 and an important instalment for the organization’s Game Pass subscriber program. The game was highly anticipated, and one of the most expected Unreal Engine 5 games this year. Based on the Steam reviews and Reddit posts, most people say it’s terrible. Let’s see why they say this about the Vampire Left4Dead2.
Redfall Steam reviews tanked from day one
It’s not a secret that the day-one reviews on Steam are all mostly negative, describing Redfall’s launch issues and current situation. Everybody is looking forward to the game’s first update.
Server connection issues
One of the biggest problems gamers are currently facing with Redfall is the connection to Bethesda’s servers. The developers do not want you to spend any time offline or via a slow connection within the strangely quiet New England setting. To play the game, you need to be registered on Bethesda, despite the fact that the Xbox and Steam PC versions each have their own matchmaking. The single-player game feels just like the beginning of an MMORPG.
This is where the problems begin. Kevin of Arstechnica largely describes this on his post about the game:
“Until your Bethesda connection drops. Then, within a few steps of your character’s feet, you’ll be booted out to the title screen, with a warning: “Arknet Connection Lost” or “Connection Error.” The first time I tried to play Redfall on my Steam Deck on a train, I got this warning. The next time was on a laptop in our hotel, which had typically spotty, login-required Wi-Fi, after about 10 minutes of play.”
This can be quite frustrating and we totally disagree with the approach.
Redfall’s launch issues are quite numerous
Okay, but what we just said is just the beginning. Let’s say we managed to get into the game and we start playing. We are 10 minutes in (if the game doesn’t disconnect) and we see this:
Redfall’s next-gen graphics
Reddit did not go easy on the Redfall launch issues as well. To start with, @TheSpartanLion mocks the game for its next-gen graphics(sarcasm):
Welcome to the Next Generation of gaming

This is quite bad as the game developers and publisher really built hype around the game and it just can not look like that. @LORD_HOKAGE_ also helps us understand this with the following comparison:
Now, there might be more things to consider like the specs of the computer the screenshot was taken on, the video settings and so. But despite that, the above comparison seems unreal for a game that built such hype. However, the next thing we’re going to address does not need any images because:
Words are more than enough
Sometimes, words are enough to say something that is funny but sad in the same time, and no gameplay and screenshots are needed. Thank you, Reddit’s @Berkyrr! It goes like this:
“Say what you want about the game, but this is the most immersive vampire experience that I have ever had
You can really feel the large corporations sucking the blood out of their customers“.
Is Redfall worth $70?
Another video posted by @NCR_Veteran_Rangers of Reddit mocks the price with a video containing multiple Redfall bugs which shut down every desire to play it. You should watch it because we had a good laugh seeing it.
Redfall is Worth 70 Dollars 😂

This just proves that the Redfall launch issues are something that can’t be overlooked and should be fixed as soon as possible. Until then, grab a chair and prepare for the next few lines:
Vampires and their nemesis: chairs!
With all sorts of bugs so far, let’s talk about real things now. With the help of Redditor @VenturerKnigtmare420:
“I have a legit question after playing 20-30 mins of the game:
How the @%$# did this town lose to vampires? Just stand behind a box or a car bro they can’t touch you because the vampires can’t go around obstacles even if their life depends upon it. In this game stakes aren’t what vampires fear, it’s boxes and chairs god forbid”.
With their great observation, we can now get the New England city back in a second. Let’s go to war my friends, but make sure to bring all the chairs and boxes you can grab.
Playing Redfall on the highest difficulty
Redfall Combat on the highest difficulty
by u/Massive_Secretary658 in redfall
Thanks to @Massive_Secretary658 we can see a little hardcore gaming on the game’s hardest difficulty. And by hardcore, we mean everything but not hardcore. The only hardcore thing is the number of Redfall bugs. I’m gonna say hardcore one more time(okay, two more) because I really fancy this word and it best describes the current situation: Hardcore bugs!
The scope issue looks familiar
The Redfall launch issues do not stop here, as Redditor Aequitas123 spotted a bug where the scope has no vision. Hmm, this kind of looks familiar, right? Maybe The Last of Us Part 1 PC bugs rings a bell? This is the exact same bug as players experienced in The Last of Us Part 1.
Adding it all up in a meme
In the end, Redditor @Sly51012 sums up pretty much everything in a meme, which we find to be quite accurate in regard to the current situation:
That being said, the game might have some good parts too but they are simply pushed under the shadows by the numerous bugs. The Redfall launch issues should be resolved quickly because players are starting to get mad about it and ask for refunds.
