Stalker 2 is probably closer than we thought it seems like.
The Official Stalker Facebook page posted an update earlier, informing Stalkers that at this year’s Gamescom gaming fair (taking place August 23-27 in Cologne, Germany), they will be able to try out a demo version of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl. It’s not sure yet if this demo will be streamed or recorded for everybody to see, or if it’s going to be played behind locked doors, only time will tell.
Deadly anomalies, dangerous mutants, anarchists, bandits, free stalkers, players and partners are heartily invited to join us and play the demo of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl at gamescom 2023 on 23-27 August. See you and #goodhuntingstalkers!
This is the most significant update since the Ukrainian development company, GSC Game World provided us with a gameplay trailer and quite a number of high-res Stalker 2 screenshots. We want to remind you that Stalker 2 is one of the most anticipated Unreal Engine 5 games, and probably one of the most anticipated games of the last couple of years.
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is going to be a soft reboot of the original game, Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl, running on their in-house game engine called X-Ray Engine, which is arguably one of the most buggy game development software in history. That is to be expected as a small game development company should focus on their game rather than building a game engine from the ground up.
We cannot wait to see some brand new Stalker 2 content like gameplay videos, a trailer, screenshots and possibly even a clear release date sometime this year if we’re lucky enough. The current release date states “2023” on their site, while the Steam listing says “December 2023”.
