An Alone in the Dark reboot that is in the works has just been delayed from its initial release date planned for later this year.

Fans of the Alone in the Dark series have been itching for a new game that will bring the series back from the dead. And finally, they started seeing a little light at the end of the tunnel when a new game was announced earlier this year. And it actually looks like they’re trying to bring back the survival horror style of the older games.

This new Alone in the Dark game will take place during the 1920s, putting you in the shoes of two protagonists named Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood. The story revolves around the disappearance of Emily’s uncle. It will be up to her and private investigator Edward Carnby (played by David Harbour) to investigate the Merceto Manor in search of him. This manor is a house for the mentally ill and wouldn’t you know it, something sinister is going on there. Even though the “spooky mental hospital” trope seems a little overdone, I’m willing to give this one a pass in the hopes that it will have some decent writing.

Alone in the Dark was previously planned for an October 25 launch this year. The new release date is January 16, 2024. Alone in the Dark will be out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Microsoft Windows.
