Marvel Snap is a card battler that has been doing the rounds since it launched in October 2022. Millions of players are still enjoying this fast-paced game, and the future is looking bright with more content and new game modes coming out.

While nowhere near as complicated as other TCGs, Marvel Snap is elegant in its simplicity. Everything is simply a numbers game. You start the game with three cards and one energy. There are a total of six turns of play, and with each turn, you get one more energy and draw a new card. Each game will have three randomly chosen locations where your cards will “fight” each other. You can play cards in any of these locations, and whoever has the bigger total power number will win that location. Whoever wins two locations wins the game.

Where things get interesting are the abilities of each card and the locations. While you can rely on your own cards’ abilities, you never know what locations you will get and how they will impact the entire round. But this keeps things interesting since no game will be like another. This is pretty impressive for such a simplistic game to maintain replayability. The developers have also said they will keep adding new cards and locations to the game.

Another interesting aspect of the game is the way you gain cards. Instead of going down the classic route of booster packs, the game has a collection level that you advance by upgrading the visual aspect of your cards. Every collection level will net you energy used for upgrades or a new random card. This means that if you keep playing, eventually, you will have access to the entire roster of cards. Getting to the end of this collection level path is tricky, but the developers have recently announced that one very dedicated player has just reached the maximum collection level.

Play with your friends

The new Battle Mode that lets you play with your friends has been discussed since last November, and apparently, it’s finally coming out. Players can create a private room which will have a room code attached. Share that code with your friend, and game on.

Since it would be pretty weird to lose ranking when playing with your friends, Battle Mode does things a bit differently. You and your friend will get to play multiple rounds. Both of you start with a total of 10 health. Lose a game, and you’ll give up two of your precious health points, four if somebody snapped. This goes on until one of the players is out of health.

By the looks of it, Marvel has quite the hit on their hands. Player numbers are steadily increasing due to the comic book appeal and the simple and fast-paced gameplay.
