“I’ll build a pyramid so tall, it won’t even need engines to reach space”

Brand-new Total War game, ancient civilisations – that’s the recipe for success if you ask me. Or you could ask the Pharaoh. Oh, wait… never mind.

Total War: Pharaoh will feature battles between the three great civilizations of the Egypt Canann and Hittite, as they strive for deciding the title of the next pharaoh. With natural calamities to prepare for, hostile foreign powers to repel, and the general disintegration of society as we know it, all of this is taking place against the backdrop of the Bronze Age crumbling in on itself. Check out the amazing trailer and see for yourself what a journey this will be:

From the Sinai Peninsula to the highlands of ancient Anatolia, Total War: Pharaoh will provide stunning views. Expect your armies to battle in sandstorms, firestorms brought on by misdirected flaming arrows, and thunder and lightning storms.

The Campaign Customization feature, which is new to the Total War series, will let you alter a variety of aspects of the gameplay. The beginning positions of the factions, the available resources, and the frequency of natural disasters can all be altered. You can increase your chances of success or make it harder for yourself to become the great monarch of the Nile. As for the gameplay, eight faction leaders with various troop rosters and distinct playstyles will be included in Total War: Pharaoh. One would envision you as a diplomat pursuing the elite of Egyptian culture, while another might envision you as a warlord commanding troops and swinging a sword.

Todor Nikolov, the game’s director beautifully added: “There are few periods more iconic than Ancient Egypt; fraught with political intrigue, cataclysmic events, and grand war campaigns, it’s the perfect setting for a Total War title […] As Pharaoh, you must save Egypt from the cusp of destruction and guide your people through the calamitous Bronze Age collapse. It is up to you to either survive or fade into history.”. The info was added via Eurogamer’s Ed Nightingale.

When will Total War Pharaoh be released?

Total War: Pharaoh is set to hit the stores (Steam and Epic Games Store) in October 2023, without an exact date.

Ancient Egypt is one of the greatest periods ever and we really can’t get enough of it, no matter how many games keep being created around it. I, for one, am really excited to become the next Pharaoh as soon as the game launches.
