Saber Interactive just released the World War Z Aftermath update notes on the PlayStation blog. The Horde Mode XL is coming out today.
In case you’re wondering, World War Z is a 3rd person shooter video game which is developed and published by Saber Interactive. The game was created after the successful movie of the same name, starring Brad Pitt. If you liked the movie you’re gonna like the game even more, we can guarantee that.
Talking about hordes, let’s get back to our sheep and see what the Horde Mode XL update will add to the game. Massive swarms of zombies are one of the things that the World War Z video game series is most known for. As Saber Interactive prepared to release the eagerly anticipated Horde Mode XL update for World War Z: Aftermath, that design tenet was kept in mind.
The update features a new map
World War Z Aftermath’s Horde Mode XL, the mode that will be released today, makes use of the PlayStation 5’s capabilities to display more bloodthirsty zombies on the screen at once than ever before, including the previous Horde Mode Z. You and your gaming buddies will be placed on a new map where you have to defend a civilian camp that is within a mall.
This mall is divided into three gameplay zones, each of which is a front line under attack from hordes of zombies trying to get to the humans. The rules of the game are pretty simple though, survive and defend the civilians. To be able to do this, you need to stock up supplies for better defence.
An improved weapon progression system
This version includes a number of new features in addition to Horde Mode XL. The remaining portion of the update for World War Z Aftermath, which is accessible to PS4 and PS5 gamers, features the new weapon progression system. Skins are not connected to specific weapon attributes under the new system.
Although you still require experience points and materials to level up your guns, you may now apply any skin to a weapon and level up with linear stat growth (and gain new bonuses).
Now, the guns will also have weapon perk slots that become available when you upgrade. There are three slots on each weapon and the perks are divided in two: Unique and Common.
When will the World War Z Aftermath Horde XL update be released?
As Saber Interactive announced, the update will be launched on the 24th of January 2023, which is today.
Sergey Danchenko, Lead Game Designer at Saber Interactive said on the Playstation Blog: “The core difference in the new mode is that some zombie waves will be “XL waves” with a mind-blowingly huge amount of zombies on the screen at the same time”. We honestly can’t wait to see how big the hordes can get, based on PlayStation 5’s full potential.
Assuming that the most expected upcoming 2023 releases are mostly zombie games, Saber Interactive should really keep its promise in order to compete with the upcoming brain-eater games.
